I do believe Leah had a great time at girl scout camp this week! Michele told me that Leah said to her multiple times throughout the day that she didn't want camp to end! She was having so much & she really liked hanging out with all of the girls. She even made a pal in one of the older girls (PALs), Kimmie. Michele was very proud of Leah for being able to eat & enjoy the outdoors without being bothered by the bugs! Just a few months ago Leah refused to even eat outside because she didn't want any bugs coming near her! But this week she seemed to conquer her fears. She ate outside, she went walking through the woods, she was swimming (for just a few days), she participated in a camp out, & she went creeking. Not sure if it was maybe the bug spray we sprayed on her in the morning that made her all the more courageous but I'm proud of her nonetheless!
Michele says we should have pictures from one of the group leaders soon. How exciting!
We went through Leah's backpack last night to see what she brought home. We found a bag with her bandanna & the numerous pins. One of the pins had red, white, & blue beads. Another pin had a little plastic frog for the girls who went creeking. Another pin was attached to a little bag with what looked like tiny shells & a little bead. I forget its significance... We also found a picture of Leah's group! I told Leah we would find a shadow box for her bandanna & the picture. What a great way to remember her first week at camp!
