VBS: Night 1

Last night was Leah's very first night at vacation bible school! She didn't really seem too excited, but she did great! I was so proud of her! We talked about it a little during the day. I wanted to make sure she was ok with me leaving her there for a few hours. Parents weren't encouraged to stay, & that was fine with me. We got there a little before the start time at 6:30. There were already tons of families in the church! Leah & I found our way to the registration person who pointed us to the group where Leah was assigned. She is part of the Fez group. Her group leader is Heather, & she took good care of Leah.

Leah wasn't too concerned that I was leaving, so I went to meet some friends from the PTO about the Carnival that we're holding for parents & students at the beginning of the school year. My friend Kris & I are in charge of the publicity part of the event. We need to put together the flyers & signage to publicize the event. I think we're also in charge of the games & inflatables... Should be fun & challenging!

I went to pick Leah up after a few hours--VBS ended at 8:30. Leah was fine! They all learned songs & Leah told me she learned about Adam & Even & how long it took God to create the Earth. She showed me the t-shirt that the kids were able to color. She also received a tub of play doh. We came home & Leah was very much interested in learning more about Adam & Eve. We found Chris's Bible & I read her a few chapters from Genesis. We talked a little about Noah, & then she noticed there was a section on Ruth, so we read a few verses there, too. Leah is very much interested in getting her own Bible with her name on it (soon!).

More VBS to come later or tomorrow! I have to get on a conference call, & then Leah & I may head to the pool for a few hours. I think she wants to practice her back float (with me holding her, of course!).
